Dear Fellow Osmanians,
All of us desire to give something back to our beloved alma mater. No
doubt you are aware of how badly the college library needs renovation and
upgrading.
Some progress has been made already. The library has been equipped
with five computers and a laser printer provided by us and managed by Osmania
alumnus Dr. Neeraj Raj, Managing Director of MedRC EduTech in Hyderabad. One
dedicated employee has been hired to manage day-to-day operations. The lab is
being used extensively. So there are grounds for optimism.
However, we have a long way to go. The Library Committee has
ambitions to raise $250,000 in the near term and $1,000,000 in the long term in
order to bring substantial improvements to the facilities. The goals are:
1. to improve physical infrastructure and provide state-of-the-art
equipment and resources, and
2. to establish oversight and management that will ensure efficient and
accountable use of money and resources.
The specific objectives are:

To renovate the library facilities to have a spacious and well laid out reading
room with comfortable and functional furniture;

To build and maintain clean and hygienic toilets;
-
To establish an electronic library with minimum of 25 computers;
-
To subscribe to online journals in the most cost-effective manner;
-
To identify and coordinate with alumni who would send journals to the library
on a regular basis;

To buy medical textbooks for the library on a regular basis;
-
To hire a person who will provide administrative support for the library; and
-
To ensure oversight and transparency in the manner in which funds are utilized.
